Portraiture

Richard Avedon:

Avedon is a very famous photographer. He specialised in portraiture. I find his work very fascinating. His use of a solid white background to show off all the detail of a person is amazing. I like his high contrast usage with his images as well. Also he was very skilled in getting out true emotions with his pictures. This makes them feel more real and have a stronger impact on the audience. I will probably use his usage of a strong white background into one of my portraits, As it shows up the person really well, as the high contrast shows all of the features of the person.

Sasha Gitin:

Gitin’s Portraits are very interesting. Most of his work shows action shots of kitchen staff doing their jobs. But he also has pictures with slow shutter speeds which make the kitchen staff stand out around the busy kitchen area. I will use his style in two of my portraits. The action style will be used in my self portrait. As ill take an image of myself doing kick ups with a football. I will then use the slow shutter speed shot for my friend portrait. As i will make him stand in the street with a lot of people walking by him. this will make him stand out from the crowd as one independent person, while the other shoppers are blurred and going about their daily lives. portraiture 1

This is my stranger portraiture. I did nothing special with this photo as the women was in a rush, so I had little time to create an effect with the camera.

portraiture 2

This is my friend portraiture of Jacob Haggerwood. With this picture I changed to shutter speed to five seconds. This enabled me to create a blur effect in the high street. This connotes how in the high street your are by yourself and only care about what you are doing even though you are in a crowd of people.

portraiture 3This is my self portraiture. My tutor said that we had to personalise it. So I added my passion of football into the photo.
